Vicky Fletcher, from the Worcester Archive and Archaeological Service, based at the Hive in Worcester, gave an insight into the work of the service at the November meeting.
She gave a very interesting and informative talk, accompanied by slides, looking at the various departments housing records of parish registers, school log books, newspapers, quarter sessions documents, trial papers etc, dating back hundreds of years. She also brought along copies of some of the documents to be read.
She answered a lot of questions from members regarding special aspects they were interested in and she was given a vote of thanks by June Durden.
After a short break for coffee, the normal business followed.
Reports were given on recent visits to the Plough at Far Forest for lunch and to the Rose Theatre to see Guys and Dolls.
President Ann Evanson gave a report on the Annual Council Meeting at Malvern and Wendy Huntley reported on the Autumn Leys Group Meeting at Wolverley.
Arrangements were made and names taken for the lunch at the Park Gate on Tuesday, December 10.
The December meeting will be a Christmas evening with carols and mince pies etc and will be held at the home of one of the WI members on Monday, December 9.
