STAFF members at a Clent special school are set to hike Yorkshire’s three highest peaks in aid of their workplace this weekend.

Paul Cope, Thomas Chell and John Cooper, who make up Sunfield School’s IT department, will cover 24 miles and climbing to 5,200ft – all in under 12 hours – on Saturday (August 13).

The trio are hoping to raise £4,500 for the charity and residential special school, which supports children and young people aged six to 19 with complex needs, including autism.

Paul, Sunfield’s IT manager, said: “We’ve been training for weeks for this challenge, which will include the Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough hills.

“We’re getting close to hitting our fundraising target of £4,500 which we will use to purchase a 65 inch interactive computer board for the school.

“This will aid and enhance the education for both our day and residential students who have complex needs.”
