A 100 years ago this month a VAD convalescent hospital opened at the Castle. To mark this The Friends of Hartlebury Castle and the Hurd Library put on a Tea Party with an exhibition and a talk.
Over 100 people came, and enjoyed a cream tea, looked round the exhibition and heard Caro Boughton Thomas’s talk about those who nursed at the Hospital including the Miss Gibbons who lived at Pleck House Hartlebury and were in charge of the Hospital.
Two of their great nephews drove from Wales and the West Country to be part of the celebrations. It was a very special occasion.
