A concert entitled I Got Rhythm: An American Extravaganza takes place at Kidderminster Town Hall on Saturday, November 24, starting at 7.30 pm.
Conducted by Geoffrey Weaver, the society will be joined by Helena Raeburn (soprano), The Big Buzzard Buzztet and The Elgar Sinfonia to celebrate the unique contribution of the USA to 20th century music.
The programme features three exuberant and lyrical works from the New World: music from Duke Ellington’s Sacred Concerts, Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms and a newly-commissioned arrangement of songs entitled Homage to Gershwin made by Rob Willis.
Tickets for the concert are priced at between £12 and £17, with children 16 and under free of charge, and are available from Bob Powell on 01562 60112, from Kidderminster Town Hall, or at the door on the night of the concert.
