KIDDERMINSTER CHORAL SOCIETY: This month the society's Summer Singers will give a performance of “Orpheus in the Underworld”, Jacques Offenbach's outrageous romp through classical mythology. The concert takes place at Holy Trinity Church, Belbroughton, on June 24, starting at 7.30 pm.
Conducted by Geoffrey Weaver, the KCS Summer Singers will be joined by Mike Eldon at the piano.
Peter Knott, publicity officer for the society, commented, "This thoroughly enjoyable and tuneful operetta is Offenbach's masterpiece. You could call it 'Mount Olympus meets Moulin Rouge', though no dancing girls this time, I'm afraid, as we're in church!”
Tickets for the concert are available online at kidderminsterchoralsociety.co.uk, priced at £10 (concessions £9). Age 18 and under go free. Tickets on the door will be priced at £12 (concessions £11) and are subject to availability.
The society's next engagement is participation in an evening concert at Baxter Church, Kidderminster, on June 30 in support of local Syrian refugee families.
