ARTIST and jewellery-maker Gilly Page is planning to host two creative workshops in Kinver throughout October’s half-term school holiday.

Gilly’s previous events at Kinver Community Library have seen participants conjure up some stunning projects during the industrious mornings.

The first event from 10am until noon on Wednesday, October 25, is a little different from usual as it is open to people of all ages – including adults – and is about Creative Scrapbooking.

Gilly said: “Participants have the chance to create a story or theme which is very personal to them.

“As with my children's workshops I would first and foremost encourage creative use of materials, photographs, keepsakes and where appropriate the written word to make each individual scrapbook.

Gilly will bring a selection of decorative materials but participants are also encouraged to bring any personal items they would like to include with them.

On Friday, October 17, also from 10am until noon, Gilly’s workshop for primary-age children will focus on Halloween preparation where youngsters can create a spooky pumpkin family from recycled and found objects.

Each workshop costs £5 per person and early booking is recommended by visiting the Vicarage Drive library or calling 01384 872348.

The youngest members of the community can also get involved at the library with the centre’s ‘Tots Time’ sessions.

Open to all pre-schoolers, whether they are babes in arms, crawlers or toddlers, the sessions take place Friday afternoon from 2.15pm to 2.45pm.

Sue and Lin from the library’s volunteer team have plenty of experience with little ones and they look forward to welcoming young families to these fun half-hours.

They said: “It’s very relaxed, with rhymes, songs and musical instruments, and there’s a star system for regular attendance.

“For mums, dads and grandparents it’s also a chance to meet with others in a similar situation, as well as choose a fresh stock of lovely books for the week ahead.”

Attendance to the Tots Time sessions do not need to be booked in advance.
