Monday, December 6 will be the group’s final meeting when the speaker will be Roy Albutt.

A member of the Bromsgrove Guild of Arts & Crafts, Mr Albutt will talk about ‘Stained Glass Windows’. The competition is ‘A decorative candle’. The meeting will end with mulled wine and mince pies.

Stone WI, which celebrated its 89th birthday recently, will cease to operate at the end of the year after the decision was made at the AGM.

Margaret Mills gave the president’s address thanking each of the committee members for their help, and announced she was giving up the position of president after five years.

Presentation and adoption of the financial statement was given by treasurer Eileen Whitfield.

Secretary Sue Potter gave the committee annual report recalling lots of excellent speakers and various outings enjoyed. The skittles team had done quite well, thanks to Sylvia Roberts’ organisation.

The Competition Cup was won by Christine Taylor.

Liz Jinks reported on the successful Group Meeting at Hartlebury. Chloe Lees, a dramatic and excellent story-teller, told two tales of sadness and mystery. The audience participated in the third story.

Pat Bourne reported on the 89th Birthday Dinner held at The Granary, and Eve Owen reported on the wonderful WI Holiday to Canada at Stoney Creek, home of the WI.
