Anthony Collis then showed us his fine collection of pub signs. The history of such signs dates back to Roman times when they indicated a tavern with a grape vine symbol. Many signs have historical meanings. The chequer board indicated a place where money transactions took place. The mug house is usually found near churches as the "mug house" was the place where the builders of churches lived while constructing the church. Coats of Arms, local industry signs and religious signs features amongst his interesting collection.
Meetings are held at the Lickhill Community Centre, Lickhill Road, Stourport, starting at 10am.
