It's Alton Towers' 40th birthday and it's putting on one show-stopping party.

The firework spectacular has taken over a year to create and will be the UK's biggest display to date.

The Staffordshire theme park will be hosting its 40th anniversary celebrations over three nights from November 5, 6 and 7 2021.

The resort has released a sneak peek of what visitors to the park can expect with a series of digital preview images which have been created with digital technology.

Alton Towers has said the event will take more than 3 weeks, 27 articulated lorries of equipment and a show crew of more than 60 experts to build ahead of opening night.

There will also be 7,000 control panels, 42 lasers and 750 lighting cues to keep up with the specially curated soundtrack that spans a variety of music genres.

The park will still open every day from 10am so that guests can explore all of the world-renowned rides that the park has to offer.

Visitors will be able to enjoy the attractions well into the evening until 9pm.

Chris Carter, Events and Entertainments Director at Alton Towers Resort, said: “Last year, understandably, we weren’t able to put on our annual Fireworks Spectacular.

"Having that extra year to think about and create something out-of-this world means our guests are going to get something truly unmissable.

"We really hope it will evoke the emotion and thrill we are aiming and that we have felt putting this year’s showstopper together.

"Not only does it celebrate iconic moments of our 40 years history at Alton Towers, it aims to capture what the Resort means to our guests.”
