As temperatures drop throughout autumn and winter, you are likely to wake up to frost and possibly some snow on your car.
If you have to drive to work in the morning, it can be incredibly annoying to wait for the ice to melt off your windscreen and windows.
However, not clearing your windscreen and windows of ice and snow completely could cost drivers £1,000 in fines.

Not properly cleaning your windscreen and windows could be considered a criminal offence.
Rule 229 of the Highway Code states that drivers must be "able to see" and "clear all snow and ice from all your windows".
Drivers must make sure that "lights are clean and number plates are clearly visible and legible".
You should also make sure that any "mirrors are clear and the windows are demisted thoroughly".
If you are caught by police driving dangerously with unclear windows, the punishment is a fine of up to £1,000 and three penalty points.
The RAC has said that the penalty points are non-negotiable but the fine can vary.
A standard roadside ticket costs around £60 but if the case goes to court or is deemed to be a severe risk, a maximum fine of up to £1,000 can be issued for a standard car.
The cost of the fine rises to a maximum of £2,500 if the vehicle is classed as a goods vehicle.
How to get rid of ice on your car
The RAC has shared a few different ways you can get rid of ice from your windscreen and windows.
You could buy a de-icer spray that you can use on your windows, windscreens, and lights.
De-icer sprays are very effective even when the temperature reaches its lowest in the UK.
You can turn on the defrost setting in your car or your vehicle might have an option to heat your windows to help melt the ice.
