MORE than £1 million is set to be invested into upgrading Hagley’s sewer network in a bid to see the village protected from flooding.

As part of the £1.2m upgrade, Severn Trent is inviting residents to a community drop in session to hear all about work, which is expected to take five months to complete.

The team from Severn Trent and their contract partners NMCNomenca, who will be carrying out the work from August, will be at Hagley Free Church, in Worcester Road, between 2pm and 7pm on Wednesday (July 5).

Ian Woodward, from Severn Trent, said: “We’re really excited to be starting this work soon in Hagley, and we’re really keen to meet the people it may be affecting.

“Experiencing sewer flooding can be devastating, so it’s really important we do this work and we want to share how we’re going to do it.”

The session is available for anyone to drop in and ask the team any questions they may have around the project – more information about the work is available at www.stw.works.

Ian added: “It’d be great to meet as many of the locals as possible, as after all they’re the ones who know the area best and it’d be really beneficial for us to hear any hints or tips as we work within the community.

“We want to make sure everyone understands what we’re doing, and the long term benefits it will have for Hagley.”
