TWO women have been airlifted to hospital with potentially "life changing" injuries following a serious crash in Stone, near Kidderminster.

Emergency services crews were called to reports of a two car crash on the A450, Worcester Road - between Hogarths Stone Manor Hotel and the Granary Hotel and Restaurant - at around 11.30am on Wednesday morning (December 6).

Firefighters removed the roof of one of the vehicles to free the occupant of the car.

A full road closure is currently in place.

A spokesman from West Mercia Police said: "Two women are being taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in Birmingham, by air ambulance, with injuries that are described as potentially life changing.

"Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes where possible."

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident reference number 238S of December 6.
