BAFTA award-winning presenter Maddie Moate visited Kates Hill Primary School to celebrate the first anniversary of Explorify.

The free digital resource from Wellcome provides teachers with activities to enhance science lessons and develop pupils’ thinking skills.

It is now being used by more than 7,500 primary schools across the UK - including the Peel Street school and the impact has "been astounding", according to teacher Kevin Orchard.

He continued: “All teachers have embraced it and use it regularly in class.

"The children look forward to them and teachers are using them either as a quick starter in science or as a conversation piece in the afternoon.

"Children are being exposed to so much more science now and they are thriving on it.”

Explorify ambassador and renowned science vlogger Maddie used Tuesday's visit to showcase one of her new activities for with pupils, which will be released on the Explorify website next week.

She said: “I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity to visit children who have been using Explorify.

"The activities encourage an inquisitive and curious approach to science."
