A PARALYMPIAN, an apprentice and a show host will be putting aside their differences to speak out against hate crime at an event in Bromsgrove this month.

The Apprentice 2017 candidate Bushra Shaikh, Paralympic gold medalist Claire Cashmore and radio broadcaster Ray Khan will be among star speakers at a National Hate Crime Awareness Week event at Parkside on October 19.

Local people are encouraged to attend the event, where visitors will be sharing their experiences of hate crime between 10am and 1pm.

Nadia Rashia, chair of North Worcestershire Hate Incident Partnership, said: "This is a really positive event to bring together the communities in north Worcestershire to celebrate perceived difference and break down the barriers associated with them.

"It would be great to have as much community support as possible to recognise such a positive event.”
