TWO people were rescued from the River Wye between Mordiford and Fownhope.

Emergency services were called last night at around 7.45pm to the river near Lucksall Carvan and Camping Park.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 7.53pm to reports of two patients who were in water near to Lucksall Carvan and Camping Park on the B4224 in Mordiford. Two ambulances and a paramedic officer were sent to the scene.

“On arrival, crews discovered two patients, a man and a woman, who were rescued from the water by the fire service. They both received treatment at the scene before being transported to Hereford Hospital for further assessment.”

Four fire crews from Hereford, Fownhope and Ross-on-Wye attended, as well as two water rescue boats from Worcester and Hereford.

The people were rescued with the assistance of the boat crew from Hereford.

Police said they were called to a concern for safety of a man and woman at 7.53pm and got there just before 8pm.
