Having had to cancel our December meeting/Christmas Party in 2017 because of bad weather it was lovely to see so many of our members turn out this year even though it was a chilly evening. Members were welcomed with a choice of beverages and, after new President, Margaret Potter, welcomed everyone, the party began. The buffet supper was set on tables down the centre of the hall and six kind members provided the delicious desserts. Everyone seemed happy with the variety of food. Programmes for 2019 having been handed out, Margaret advised us there was no business to discuss tonight which could not wait until January. Our entertainers for the evening were the Vale Connection Ladies Chorus resplendently attired in red and black. Some had been stuck in the traffic jam which almost had Evesham in a gridlock because of a bad accident on the Evesham Bye Pass. They sang a variety of Christmas songs and we were invited to join in if we wished. The conductor took time out to tell us of the different voices which make up the choir and then four of the members continued their repertoire of Christmas songs singing barbershop style, all of which was very well received. The competition, Something You Have Made, was judged by a member of the choir the winner being Val Davies. As usual a chair at each table had a raffle ticket stuck underneath it and the person who was sitting on that chair took home the gorgeous flower arrangement from that table home. There was also a napkin for each member containing sweets to take home (hopefully everyone was to full to eat them during the party). Our next members meeting is on Tuesday, January 8. This will be a Members Evening on a Show and Tell basis. The competition will differ from usual in that one of the Programme Committee will be supplying an unusual object and the members will have to guess what it is. President, Margaret Potter, ended the meeting by wishing everyone a very happy Christmas and New Year and reminding us that subscriptions are due in January! Margaret Dalton
