THE trial of a former Worcester mayor, who has pleaded not guilty to causing the death of his wife in a car crash, has been adjourned until August 27.

Aubrey Tarbuck, 88, also denied two allegations of causing serious injury by dangerous driving in October 2017.

A plea and trial preparing hearing was held in November at Shrewsbury Crown Court while the trial was due to begin at the same court on Monday (January 14), but has now been adjourned for over seven months.

Tarbuck’s wife Anne died when their silver Volvo estate was involved in a collision with an Audi Q5 near the Plume of Feathers restaurant at Harley Bank.

Tarbuck served as city mayor in 2005 and was first elected as a Conservative councillor at the city council in 1966.

He was also a member of Malvern Hills District Council
