PLANS to turn the Chase Hotel in Ross-on-Wye into apartments have been outlined on a consultation website.

The owners of the town centre hotel, Camanoe Estates, have set up a public consultation and will hold a drop-in event at the hotel today (Thursday).

On the website, consultingyou.co.uk/chasehotel, it says: "The Chase Hotel is no longer able to trade profitably and therefore, will close on September 30, 2019.

"The owners - Camanoe Estates Limited - aim to demolish the main hotel block (behind the old house) and redevelop parts of the site. This website is part of a process to seek community views on our proposals."

The first stage of community consultation will be a drop-in event at the hotel in Gloucester Road from 2pm to 8pm today.

For those who cannot attend, there is also a comments and feedback page available from January 17 to 20.

The website said that the original house will be kept and converted into apartments, while there may be three blocks of apartments to the rear of the house and five detached houses inside the tree lined end of Gloucester Road.

There will be around 100/120 apartments - most of the properties will be for sale or rent and the scheme will include affordable units.

Parking for apartment residents will be underground, so only visitor parking will have a visual impact on the site.

A significant part of the 11 acres (around 4.5 hectares) of grounds will be retained to provide an extensive parkland setting, centred on an open area of around two acres, surrounded by a pathway.

A planning application has not yet been sent in to Herefordshire Council.
