BLOCKLEY schoolchildren are being invited to enter a painting competition to win tickets to a production by the local amateur dramatic society.

And the best entry from pupils at Blockley Primary School  will win two tickets to see Blockley Amateur Dramatic Company’s play based on characters from Lewis  Carroll’s much-loved books about Alice in Wonderland.

The production by BAD  Company will run from from April 9-11.

The winner will also receive a copy of Lewis Carroll’s  book signed by the entire cast.

Lewis Carroll wrote Alice in Wonderland in 1865.  It tells of a young girl falling  through a rabbit hole into a fantasy world populated by animals with human. The comedy is considered to be one of the best examples of the  literary nonsense genre.

Among the characters in the play in addition to Alice herself to be played by Victoria Olavesen-Stubb, are the White Rabbit, the Duchess, the March Hare, Humpty  Dumpty, the White Knight, the Mad Hatter, the Dormouse, the Queen of Hearts,  the Knave of Hearts, the King of Hearts, the Gryphon, Tweedledum and Tweedledee, and the Mock Turtle.

The deadline for competition entries is March 28.

Tickets for the play will be available soon from Blockley Shop.
