AN Evesham restaurant raised an impressive amount for Help for Heroes.

Hundreds of people turned up to support the Hampton Ferry’s annual Christmas Fayre and lights switch - on night, held at Raphaels Restaurant in December.

Donations kept coming in last month and now the total amount raised has been counted, with a cheque for £1,000 being presented to Ian Baldry from the charity.

The charity supports British servicemen and women who have been wounded or injured in the line of duty.

Mr Baldry said: "Now that our troops are no longer deployed on war fighting operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, I am very keen to remind the public of the purpose of Help for Heroes and how their ongoing support is vital.

"Help for Heroes believes that those who put their lives on the line deserve a second chance at life.

"We provide lifetime support for the Armed Forces Community and are here to unleash the expert minds, skilled bodies and courageous hearts of veterans and their families."
