The President’s party was held on February 21 at the end of Grenville Burrows’ term of office. To mark the occasion he and Steve Swarbrick devised another ingenious music quiz. Members and partners then enjoyed a buffet lunch provided by The Boathouse.

Our annual meeting took place on February 28 when Bill Underwood took over the Presidency and Peter Penney took his place as Vice-President. It was announced that Club membership stood at 47, a record. To mark his 90th birthday, the Club’s Independent Examiner, David Senior, was granted life membership and the Quaich Cup for outstanding service was presented by the current holder Chris Donough to Clive Allen, Club Secretary, who is entering his last year in the post.

To keep our minds active (or was it to prevent us spending too long at the bar?), Chris Donough presented us with his Mind Bending Numbers Competition, full marks being scored by the winning team.

We meet at 10am every Thursday at The Boathouse, Evesham Rowing Club. Our next meeting will be on March 7 when our outgoing President, Grenville Burrows will be speaking about The River Lot in France.

On March 14, Ray Aspden’s subject will be Bronze Age Palaces of Syria. Full details can be found on our website, eveshamprobus.co.uk
