A POPULAR 1920s themed charity boxing night will be returning to the city for its final time.

The Peaky Blinders boxing festival is set to take place for its third and final time at the Worcester Guildhall later this month.

Twenty-two county boxers will step into the ring for 11 bouts of boxing, all in aid of raising money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

The festival has been organised by Worcester Charity Boxing Association (WCBA) and will be run by OMG Promotions.

Tom Whitby, from OMG Promotions, said: “I’m really pleased to say that the event has been a great success so far. Once again, the VIP section at the event sold out within days and, with very a limited amount of standing tickets left. We are expecting a sell out within the next few days.

“A lot of passion and energy goes into these events from our whole team, and we’re sure everyone will enjoy this night that has evolved into something amazing.

"Our customers always make a massive effort with the dressing up as well, so we’re excited to see what Worcester brings to the Guildhall this time.”

So far, the Peaky Blinders festival has raised £17,000 for various charities in just over a year.

Marcus Claytor, aged 31, who has been involved in every Peaky Blinders boxing event, said: “I might not be the best boxer in the world, but I have never enjoyed a sport as much as I do boxing. The fitness and people involved make it one of the most unique and rewarding activities you can compete in.

“The great work that this promotion does to raise awareness and money for great causes makes it a very special event to be part of and I’m proud to have been associated with it for the past two years.”

Mr Whitby, aged 28, added: “After the last event we were going to leave it and try something new, but we had too many people asking for tickets for the next show already, and plenty of boxers wanting to sign up to fight and raise money for charity.

“Once again the dress code is strictly 1920s. So, get your flapper dresses and baker boy caps on. We currently have no intentions of doing another Peaky Blinders night anytime soon as we have other ideas that we want to try out.”

The charity boxing bouts will take place at the Worcester Guildhall on March 30.
