A MAN was left bloodied and shaken by an alleged assault as he walked to Bromsgrove railway station.

A witness to the incident, which happened just after 9pm on Thursday (March 21) at the junction of Stoke Road and South Road, said the man 'had blood pouring from his mouth'.

They said: "A man - maybe late 20s, early 30s - ran across the road shouting for help.

"He had blood pouring from his mouth. He was saying he had been attacked. He was visibly shaken.

"Two young men, he thought early 20s, asked him for a light, at which point he was punched in the face and stomach by one of the men.

"The two men then ran off up Carlyle Road.

"He was going to the train station to meet his girlfriend who was working in Kidderminster.

"I phoned his girlfriend and he spoke to her to let her know what had happened.

"I think people in and around Aston Fields should be aware that this type of incident has happened and to be vigilant at all times."

Police and ambulance services confirmed they had been called to the scene.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of an injured male at around 9.02pm.

"The man was alleged to have been assaulted by other individuals and was in quite a bit of shock.

"He was assessed by ambulance personnel and then conveyed to the Alexandra Hospital."

A West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson added: "We treated one man at the scene before he was taken to hospital for further treatment."
