A BROMSGROVE school which desperately needs to upgrade its tired and dated playground equipment has received a cash boost.

Bromsgrove South County Councillor Chris Bloore has joined the campaign to help replace Charford First School’s playground equipment with a grant of £5,000 from his divisional fund allowance.

The money will go to the Parents and Friends of Charford First School group in their attempt to help raise £45,000 to replace dated playground equipment.

Councillor Bloore said: “Charford PFA does an incredible job in helping raise much needed funds for the school whilst at the same time bringing our community together.

"I’m delighted to be able to help the work of Steph Marsh and other parents in helping replace and update parts of the playground. It’s a team effort and we’re fortunate to have a staff team, governing body and parents and friends association who are working day and night to give the best education to our children.

"As local councillors we are just looking to help in any way we can.”

There are fundraising events coming up later in the year including a quiz and fizz night on June 7 and a Summer fayre on July 5.
