A large-scale Christian event is set to take place at the Worcester Arena.

Thousands of Christians from many different churches in and around the city will pack the venue, to listen to international Christian evangelist and author John Ioannou.

He said: “I’m always encouraged and inspired when thousands of Christians come together to worship God.

“That’s what will be happening at this event, as we pray for more people from across our county to come to a living faith in Jesus and find the abundance of life he offers.

“I hope that as many Christians as possible will join us to show what the power of prayer can do.”

Michael Brierley, canon at Worcester Cathedral and one of the organisers, said: “This is going to be such an exciting day for Christians.

“It was absolutely incredible when so many people gathered in the Cathedral last year, with a 1000 Christians and with the Arena as our venue this year, it is set to be even more special.

“I really hope that as many Christians as possible will cancel their normal evening service to come and join us.

Shell Perris, organiser of Alive: Worcestershire, a high energy, worship concert for children and families, which is part of the day, said: “It’s amazing that the very first Alive: Worcestershire is happening on Pentecost, at Worcester Arena.

“This will be the first of three annual concerts and each one will give children and families the opportunity to worship God and find out more about the Christian faith.

“It’s guaranteed to be a fun filled afternoon for all those who come along!”

The two events will take place on Sunday June 9 and organisers say all are welcome.

Alive: Worcestershire will take place between 3 – 5pm (doors open 2.15pm) and the Thy Kingdom Come Prayer event with guest speaker John Ioannou, will be from 7.30 – 9pm (doors open 6.45pm).
