AN armed robber who forced his way into a former friend's home and severely beat him, breaking several teeth, has been jailed.

Jack Rowley was locked up today for six years and four months in relation to the incident on the Westlands estate in Droitwich, which saw him armed with a metal bar and his face covered by a balaclava.

The 26-year-old repeatedly assaulted the victim, 23, leaving him with several broken teeth, as well as head and facial injuries, before stealing cash from the property.

Following the sentencing at Worcester Crown Court, PC Bloor said: "This was a targeted and violent attack which has naturally had a significant impact on the victim.

"A custodial sentence was inevitable and appropriate.

"Thankfully, this type of offence is extremely rare in Droitwich," he added.

Rowley had pleaded guilty to charges of robbery and possession of an offensive weapon, in relation the offences committed on March 12 last year.

A 15-year-old accomplice of Rowley's also pleaded guilty to the same offences for his involvement in the incident.

He was sentenced separately and was referred to a youth offending panel.

Rowley was previously jailed in May last year for another offence and a criminal behaviour was granted in July banning him from the Westlands estate.

He was released in November, after serving six months, with his CBO also preventing him from going near Droitwich High School.

Rowley had been jailed for breaching a restraining order put in place to protect his then-16-year-old ex-girlfriend, as well as damaging a police car with a rock and racially abusing an officer.

Family members of Rowley had defended him on Facebook, accusing the authorities of having "targeted” him all his life after Droitwich Police posted that he was still subject to the order.

Rowley's CBO will remain in place until July 3, 2021.
