A PENSNETT singer wowed the judges in the semi-finals of Miss England to win a place in the coveted final.

Charlotte Jones, aged 25, took to the stage in Burnley last weekend where she battled it out to win a spot in the grand final of the national competition in Newcastle on August 1.

The former Kingswinford School student said she was in shock to discover she made it to the final round.

Thousands of women applied to take part in the competition and Charlotte is one of the lucky few to make the final.

Charlotte said: "I'm in shock, I didn't expect it because I haven't done anything like this before. I was the first contestant to be called, it was absolutely amazing."

The singer, who currently tours the country as part of a celebration of hit girl group Little Mix, now has just over a month to prepare for her final appearance.

One of her tasks is to find an eco-dress to showcase at the final made from sustainable material and she will also continue to fundraise for her chosen charities Breast Cancer Awareness and Papryus.

She also hopes to source her evening dress for the final from Kingswinford Bridal Wear which loaned her the dress for her conquering semi-final.

Charlotte also has nothing but praise for the organisers of the contest: "The organisers were so nice, they made us feel so comfortable. People imagine the contest being a cattle market, being pushed out on the stage but it wasn't like that all."

She also hopes to source her evening dress for the final from Kingswinford Bridal Wear which loaned her the dress for the semi-final, which she described as 'absolutely beautiful'.

Charlotte added: "All the support I have been given has been amazing. I already feel like a winner."
