A SPECIAL event is being held tomorrow in an attempt to help cut down on crime in Rubery.

This Saturday, July 13 residents who live in Rubery can get Smartwater Kits for free.

The event, from from 10am until 2pm, is being organised by Bromsgrove Councillor Peter McDonald.

Speaking about doing similar events in the past, Cllr McDonald said the aim is to cut crime in the area.

“SmartWater is a liquid base that you use to mark all valuables in your property with an established track record for detecting and deterring criminal activity," he said.

"It is only visible under UV light, easy to apply and almost impossible to remove. It sends out a powerful warning to any would-be thieves and has a 100 per cent conviction rate in contested cases when used as evidence."
