The air ambulance took a driver to hospital after a crash on a country road a few miles north of Hereford.

Police closed the road near Burghill after a car left the road to the south of the village golf club.

Burghill Community Academy posted a picture of a white car across the road as traffic built up on roads around the village.

People in the village reported seeing two air ambulances while others saw heavy lifting equipment close to the crash scene.

Police today said a red Ford Kia Cee'd had hit the roadside verge and come to a stop in a hedge. It is not believed any other vehicle was involved.

The driver, a man in his 60s, was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further medical treatment, and the road was shut while emergency services were at the scene.

Anyone with any information or who saw the crash, or has dash cam footage, is asked to contact West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 421s of 15 July 2019, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
