A burst main sent water shooting into the air.
It happened in New Road, Bromyard.
Welsh Water had been working on the pipe to fix a leak since Monday, and the road was closed as a result.
Engineers found a second leak while they were working, which mean the re-opening of the road was delayed.
Work is due to be finished today.
Welsh Water said the fountain of water only appeared for a relatively short time during the repair work.
A spokesperson said: "While we carried out this work we had to close the road to ensure the safety of both our workers and motorists. This road will be fully reopened today after the work has been completed.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused to motorists and residents while we carried out this work, and we thank them for their patience and understanding.”
