A PENSIONER has denied a string of indecent assaults against a child during the 1980s.
Anthony Lane of Mayflower Road, Droitwich appeared at Worcester Crown Court yesterday.
The 67-year-old denied 13 indecent assaults dating back to January 1986 in Droitwich, including an alleged assault at the town's Lido.
Some of the counts on the indictment encompassed multiple alleged incidents (one count referring to 'no less than 10 occasions') against the girl, beginning when she was 13 years old.
The complainant, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, is expected to give evidence in the trial which is scheduled to last five days. Paul Whitfield appeared for the prosecution and Nicholas Berry for the defence. The case was heard by Judge Nicolas Cartwright.
Lane was granted unconditional bail until his trial on April 27.
