IS this the dirtiest bus stop in Bromsgrove? In Worcestershire? In the country?

The shelter - at the junction of Worcester Road and Ford Road, near Bromsgrove School - was branded as 'disgusting' by one bus user.

A Twitter user named Caitlin brought the state of the shelter to the attention of Bromsgrove District Council - and town MP Sajid Javid - earlier this month.

Bromsgrove Advertiser:

"This is the most disgusting bus stop I've had to stand under," she wrote. "There's lots of spiders and creepy crawlies up there too."

Ugh. We mean, would you like to stand under it? It's enough to send a shiver down the spine of even the hardiest public transport user.

The picture at the top of the story was taken in April - but the image above shows the shelter has become even filthier in the months since, as does the one below.

The top of the shelter is supposed to be transparent...

Bromsgrove Advertiser:

Fortunately for passengers on services including the 43 from Redditch to Bromsgrove and the 144 from Birmingham to Worcester via Bromsgrove, the matter is in hand.

While Mr Javid did not reply, the council has taken action.

Bromsgrove Advertiser:

The shelter now looks as good as new, almost. You may notice there's still a bit of work to be done.

But the council have promised to order new perspex for the shelter's bottom section and install it asap.

And don't stop there - let the council know too as they are keen to hear from any residents able to highlight any street cleaning concerns.
