A date has been set for the showdown between McDonald’s, who want to build a new restaurant, and campaigners against the Perdiswell plans.
The proposal to build the new restaurant at the Droitwich Road site in the Perdiswell House building, is to go before Worcester City Council’s planning meeting on October 24. If approved it would be the fourth McDonald’s in Worcester.

The fast food chain’s plans were announced back in June with McDonald’s saying it wanted to turn the former Harvester into a drive-thru restaurant. The company says the design and layout of the site and its location are “appropriate” and highlighted it will create 65 new jobs.
But opposition grew with campaigners pointing out it would be near the North Worcester Primary School, due to open in September.

And more than 1,500 people signed a ‘Stop McDonald’s at Perdiswell’ petition.
Worcestershire County Council Highways department and Worcestershire Department of Public Health have both recommended it for refusal, highlighting the issue of congestion and the new school respectively.
The meeting will be at the Guildhall from 1.30pm, and will be open to the public.
