SIR – I’m writing this on returning from the Eastnor Park section of the rally having been surrounded by happy enthusiasts having a GREAT outing to see the cars tearing along the track.

Such events are not everybody’s cup of tea but then if we were all the same what a dull world if would be.

The furore in the press is worrying. Tom Wells is a fine fellow and always puts himself out to assist any cause within his remit.

However, either he has had a touch of the vapours or the articles in the Worcester News have been somewhat exaggerated.

About 25 years ago I recall the Milk Race going through the centre of Great Malvern.

Hundreds of spectators watched the speeding cyclists go down Church Street, Malvern was enjoying the huge national press attention.

However, the next week in the press nothing but moans from shop keepers saying “No one could enter their shops etc”.

So, to those who felt they were trapped in their houses for a brief while and who seemed to be so affronted could I ask them to live and let live; it was only for a short while and to Tom I think Michael Winner (calm down dear, etc) might just have had the the words to settle matters.
