A WINE and chocolate thief has been locked up by magistrates after breaking a suspended sentence.

Robert Philpott, aged 36, of Withymoor Road, Dudley, pleaded guilty to stealing 16 bottles of wine from Spar and £136.40 worth of chocolates from M&S, at a hearing at Dudley Magistrates Court. He was jailed for 12 weeks due to prolific offending and breaching a suspended sentence. He was also ordered to pay £216.40 in compensation.

The following cases were also heard at Dudley Magistrates Court last week.

Samantha Hill, aged 49, of High Street, Lye, pleaded guilty to assault. She received a four week prison sentence suspended for 12 months. She was also ordered to pay a surcharge and costs totalling £307.

Sandra Jones, aged 32, of Station Street, Cradley Heath, pleaded guilty to stealing £34.85 of meat and groceries from Aldi. She received a 12 month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay a £15 surcharge.

Joshua Hunt, aged 30, of Oakfield Road, Wordsley, pleaded guilty to driving over the legal alcohol limit. He received a community order and must carry out 60 hours of unpaid work over the next 12 months. He was disqualified from holding a driving licence for 36 months and was ordered to pay a surcharge and costs totalling £225.

Matthew Jackson, aged 37, of Maybank Road, Netherton, pleaded guilty to drink driving in Dudley. He received a community order and was disqualified from holding a driving licence for 40 months. He was also ordered to pay a fine, surcharge and costs totalling £325.

Kurtis Butler, aged 19, of The Shrubbery, Dudley, pleaded guilty to assaulting Steven Woolvin by beating at Tesco Extra at Burnt Tree in Dudley. Butler received a community order with a curfew requirement and was also ordered to pay £100 in compensation and £200 in costs.

Reuben Edwards, aged 18, of King Edmund Street, Dudley, also pleaded guilty to assaulting Steven Woolvin by beating at Tesco Extra at Burnt Tree in Dudley. He received a conditional discharge for two years.
