Festive Lights event

As is by now traditional, hundreds of people gathered by Ledbury's Market House for the grand countdown to 5.15pm, although numbers were perhaps a little down, perhaps because of the especially damp and chilly weather.

Enjoying the fun, and also helping fellow Rotarians with the road safety and crowd control stewarding was Jan Long, who said: "There were less people than last year I think, but nevertheless people were very enthusiastic and it was good to see so many young people performing dance and song, also the Community Choir and our excellent Ledbury Community Brass band playing traditional Christmas carols and songs."

Ledbury's mayor, Cllr Phillip Howells and the Carnival Princess and Attendants, alongside Father Christmas, managed the the big 'Switch on' with customary festive enthusiasm.

And there was also praised for the organisers.

Mrs Long said: Brenda Hill and the team made the whole thing happen."

Now the community Christmas tree is lit by the Market House, and strings of golden lights are decorating iconic town centre buildings, including the Market House and the Alms House, and now strings of festive lights are shining above Ledbury town centre once more, the stage is set for the next community event on Ledbury's seasonal calendar.

On Thursday, December 5, from 4pm to 8.30pm, there will be a a Ledbury Late Night Christmas Shopping event.
