A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a Worcester attack which put a man in hospital.

A man from Sparkhill, Birmingham, has been arrested and remains in police custody, police confirmed this morning.

The arrest is linked to an incident that took place in the Wylds Lane area although West Mercia Police has yet to confirm what the man has been arrested on suspicion of or how the alleged victim sustained his injuries.

The assault between 11pm on Saturday, November 23 and 1am on Sunday, November 24 where a 22-year-old man suffered serious injuries.

He is currently stable and continues to be treated in hospital.

Worcestershire Local Police Commander, Superintendent Damian Pettit said: “The investigation is still on-going and we currently have a man in custody who is helping us with our enquiries.

“I understand this has had a large impact on people in the area and would like to extend our thanks to the community for assisting with our enquiries. We continue to have an increased presence within the area."

We have previously reported how Detective Chief Inspector Andy Bailey said: "Whilst we acknowledge that this is a very serious incident I would like to reassure the local community that we are working hard to apprehend the offender(s) responsible for this assault."
