MELLO, the event which bills itself as “The Biggest Chilled Festival” has provided early notice of next year’s stellar line up.

The popular event will take place at the Severn End Country Estate at Hanley Castle from Friday May 22 to May 24.

In all, it’s quite a setting.

A spokesman said: “Severn End is a 17th-century house rebuilt after a fire in 1896. It sits in a stunningly landscaped park.

“With the fabulous backdrop of the picturesque Malvern Hills, Mello is the chilled, safe, family fun festival.”

So what can festival-goers anticipate in 2020?

There will be six live undercover stage areas, for a start.

A spokesman said: “There will be a stunning line up of artists, including Steeleye Span, Fairport Convention, Odyssey, T.Rex,

Fun Loving Criminals, Hazel O’Connor, Craig Charles, Trevor Nelson, Norman Jay, Andy Smith (Portishead), and Huey Morgan.”

On top of this there will be “the very best of Worcestershire’s local bands”.

And a food village with stalls will be “serving delicacies from all over the world”.

The spokesman added: “It’s not just about the music. Mello is the festival for every member of the family! Live and chilled !”

Among the headliners, there are certainly some names to conjure with.

Steeleye Span is widely regarded as one of the greatest English folk rock bands of their generation with hit singles such as ‘Gaudete’, and ‘All Around my Hat’.

Hazel O’Connor is a legendary singer/songwriter and actress who hit the world storm in the 1980s with hit singles ‘Eighth Day’, ‘D Days’, and ‘I Will’. She was the major star of the movie, ‘Breaking Glass’.

Craig Charles is back by popular demand. The spokesman said: “ We’re delighted to welcome back a legendary actor, host, broadcaster and, with his BBC 6 Music primetime Saturday night show, one of UK’s most beloved Funk and Soul DJs!
