HALESOWEN Leisure Centre's refurbishment 'will be finished by the end of 2021.'

The Dudley Council-run facility on Great Cornbow is set for a revamp as part of a £31million plans to overhaul the borough's leisure facilities.

Under plans Dudley will get a new leisure centre and Halesowen and Stourbridge leisure centres will be refurbished.

Work has already started on preparing the site of Dudley's new leisure centre on the former Flood Street car park.

It is expected to open in 2021.

The new centre is set to include a 25-metre swimming pool, large state-of-the -art gym, sports hall, flexible studio meeting spaces, spin studio and an onsite café.

But Dudley Council said the details for Halesowen Leisure Centre's refurb have not been finalised.

Councillor Ian Kettle, cabinet member responsible for leisure centres said: “The work required for the refurbishment of Halesowen leisure centre is currently being finalised; a start date is yet to be agreed.

"We anticipate that the exciting programme of work which will modernise the facilities within this popular venue will be completed well before the end of next year.”

Halesowen leisure centre has a main pool and learner pool, dance studios, Lifestyles gym, squash courts and function rooms.

The centre caters for sports, fitness and recreational activities, meetings, birthday parties and private functions.
