OVER 90 homes in the Pensnett and Kingswinford area were left without power following reports of a "fire" in an underground electrical box.
West Midlands Fire Service received a 999 call at around 6.45am this morning (January 22) to reports of smoke coming out of a manhole cover on Bromley Lane.
Five firefighters from Brierley Hill fire station attended the scene, where they were joined by engineers from Western Power Distribution who worked to isolate a number of incoming power lines.
The smoke was discovered to be steam which was caused by water seeping into the underground link box, a spokesman from Western Power said.
He confirmed that 93 homes in the area lost power due to the the incident.
He added: "We isolated the affected area and have now completed the relevant repairs."
