BROMSGROVE District Housing Trust (BDHT) has handed over the keys to the final property at its Norton Farm development on the Birmingham Road in Bromsgrove.

First time buyers, Claire, aged 32 and Matt, aged 29 have now moved into their brand new home alongside their dog, Jasper, after purchasing the property through the affordable housing provider’s shared ownership scheme.

The couple, who were previously living with their parents in Henley-in-Arden and Alvechurch, are now the proud owners of the final property at Norton Farm – one of just 17 two and three bedroom homes.

Claire said: “After our initial property search hit a wall after a year of searching, we discovered the homes at Norton Farm and quickly realised Bromsgrove offered the perfect location for us. We have a fantastic support network of friends nearby and the development offers good commuting distance to both of our jobs.

“After excitedly buying items in anticipation, we are thrilled to have now received the keys to our first home as a couple and can’t wait to settle in and make it our own. As an avid baker, I’m particularly excited about getting to grips with our new kitchen and baking lots of delicious treats for family and friends when they come to visit.”

Lisa Harrison, New Homes Officer at BDHT, said: “Getting on to the property ladder as a young purchaser can often prove a difficult and daunting prospect however, shared ownership can offer the perfect solution for first time buyers to get their foot on the first rung without the pressure of securing a mortgage for 100 per cent of the property.

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Claire and Matt into their brand new home and to mark this exciting final milestone for Norton Farm.”
