A PARKING lay-by is to be added to a busy Stourbridge road to try to stop concerns about dangers caused by on-street parking.
Council chiefs have announced they plan to create parking spaces for eight cars along The Broadway in Norton outside Gig Mill Primary School - following complaints about motorists obstructing traffic by parking on the street and fears about the risk of accidents.
Councillor Karen Shakespeare, Dudley's cabinet member for environmental, highways and street services, said: "I have received a large number of complaints about a number of issues along the Broadway which do need to be addressed as and when funding becomes available.
"But the problems with on-street parking by Gig Mill Primary School not only causes problems at school times, but has also caused obstruction to the safe free flow of traffic.
"I have listened to what residents and parents have said and hopefully the creation of this additional parking area will help to alleviate some of the problems."
Work is expected to start in April.
