A spoof called Downside Abbey is coming to The Swan Theatre in Worcester.

Stourbridge Writers and Actors Group (SWAG), a progressive local amateur theatre group, say they are proud to announce to be heading to Worcester.

But what can an audience expect?

Spokesman Matthew Davies said: "We hope you can come and see us perform our very first production, in your lovely local theatre

"We look forward to seeing you there!"

Matthew added: "SWAG are honoured to bring Downside Abbey for one night only on Friday April 17 to The Swan Theatre.

"Written and directed by founder member, Sean Harris, set in the Roaring 20’s Downside Abbey is a comedy drama full of love, romance, murder, suspicion, intrigue and double entendres."

Treble entendres, however, have not been promised, but that is no matter.

Matthew said: "Lord and Lady Lear live at Downside Abbey with their two daughters. Lord Farquhar is a suitor, Mr Gosling drops in unexpectedly, the staff are at sixes and sevens, and life is certainly not dull."

To celebrate this unusual show, the SWAGs have released a teaser trailer which can viewed on their Facebook page:

"There may be tears, there will be laughs, and maybe a groan or two, but you’re guaranteed a great time," said Matthew.

Tickets for Downside Abbey are available now via The Swan Theatre in person, by telephone, on 01905 611427 or via the Theatre’s website:
