DRIVERS are warned to expect delays when a key Dudley route becomes one-way next month for Metro works.

Castle Hill will become one-way from Monday, June 8 as work continues to extend the Metro from Wednesbury to Brierley Hill, via Dudley.

The road will become one-way in the direction towards Dudley.

The system is expected to be in place for up to five weeks to allow South Staffordshire Water, which is working on behalf of Transport for West Midlands, to carry out the work.

Transport bosses from the Midlands Metro have assured drivers that clearly signed diversion routes will be in place for the duration of the disruption.

Those who need to travel are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys and if using bus services, to follow current government guidance.

Meanwhile, Union Street in the town centre will be closed until May 29 while Metro-related work is carried out.

The road is closed at its junction with King Street and High Street, to allow for essential utility diversions and upgrades to take place while the Midland Metro work continues.
