A POPULAR café for walkers is set to reopen for takeaway food and drink.

The Orchard Café at Worcester Woods Country Park will reopen from June 1.

Takeaway teas and coffees, homemade cakes, and hot food will be available at the Worcester site for walkers to enjoy after a stroll through the woods.

The café will be open every day 10am until 7pm.

Councillor Lucy Hodgson, cabinet member with responsibility for communities at Worcestershire County Council said: “It is very important that we are still looking after our mental wellbeing after many weeks of being under lockdown, so daily exercise should remain a priority for you and your family.

“We have been working closely with the café tenants to make the necessary changes to allow The Orchard Café to operate a takeaway service.

“Worcester Woods is a brilliant space to get some fresh air and exercise, and with the reopening of the cafe you can now treat yourself to an ice cream, coffee or some delicious take away food. And they’ll even be dog treats available for four legged visitors.

“We urge everyone to continue following the Government guidelines to keep everyone safe.”

Social distancing measures will need to be observed in order to buy food and drink from the café, and the toilets will remain closed for the time being.

All country parks and nature reserves managed by the county council are open for Worcestershire residents to take their daily exercise in.
