POLICE are sharing a video created by an organisation helping women fleeing domestic violence.

The force is sharing the video, created by West Mercia Women's Aid, to highlight the "silent solution" for those calling 999 who are in a dangerous situation but unable to speak.

The video, which can be seen on West Mercia Police's social media pages, demonstrates how callers can press 55 at a certain point in the call to let the call handler know they need help but are not able to talk.

Detective sergeant Sharon Wallace-Rathmell of Vulnerability and Safeguarding said: "We hope this video will be shared far and wide in order to raise awareness of the options for those suffering domestic abuse or people who are in dangerous situations and cannot speak. Please help us to help vulnerable people by sharing the video."
