A TEENAGER from Malvern has done his bit for charity, raising nearly £1,000 in a 24-hour game-a-thon.

13 year-old George Webb played no-stop for 24 hours while streaming on his youtube channel to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support.

The Chase School pupil battled through the tiredness and fatigue to complete his challenge at 9am on May 29.

His family took turns to support him during the challenge and George said the support he had received from them and his friends had kept him going.

He said: "MacMillan is a great charity and it's difficult for them to raise money with so many events cancelled due to the lockdown.

"I was so pleased to be able to help from home. I can't believe you've all been so generous, you're all amazing!"

Immediately after completing the challenge, George fell asleep for five hours straight but emerged to say thank you to everyone who had supported him.

He had initially set out to raise £100 but such was the generosity shown by supporters that he ended up raising £985 including gift aid.

The challenge involved George playing Minecraft for 24 hours via his YouTube channel "WahWahWebbo" and there was a constant stream of donations coming throughout.

George's challenge was part of MacMillian's "Game Heroes" initiative, which sees gamers sign up and set their own challenge.

MacMillan sets up a page for them and asks that they are sponsored for the charity.

The gamers then play and stream their favourite games, having fun and raising vital funds for the charity, which looks after people suffering with cancer and their families.
