WORCESTERSHIRE remains in the middle of the table of a new Covid-19 cases list and actually saw a drop, new figures show.

Newly published data from Public Health England today (July 2) shows that in the week up to June 28 there was an infection rate of 3.55 cases per 100,000 people.

We reported yesterday that the PHE figures showed the county had, during the week ending June 21, an infection rate of 5.7 cases per 100,000 people.

In comparison Leicester had the highest infection rate in the UK with 141.32 cases per 100,000 people in the week to June 28.

The table is being used by the government to determine whether to introduce local lockdowns and national reports suggest more could be a few days away, after Leicester went into lockdown earlier this week.
