TWO pigeons and a horse have been rescued by firefighters in Herefordshire after getting into difficulties in two separate incidents.
Bromyard Fire Station's animal rescue team were called out to Upper Sapey, near Bromyard, this morning after a large horse became stuck on top of a stable door.
The team were joined by a crew from Tenbury Fire Station and a vet from Three Counties Equine Practice.
A Bromyard Fire Station spokesperson said the horse was sedated and the gate removed from its hinges to release it.
The horse is reported to be a little sore following the ordeal, but is expected to make a full recovery.
Meanwhile in Leominster, firefighters were called to help release two pigeons that had got caught up in wire on a street light in the town.
Crews used the nine-metre ladder to gain access to them.
A fire service spokesperson said one pigeon flew away and the other was taken to Marches Vets to be assessed.
