MORE than £20million has been claimed in coronavirus grants by Bromsgrove businesses - but firms are being warned time is running out to apply for their share of the pot.

Businesses have less than one month left to claim grants under three support schemes.

Bromsgrove District Council has paid grants to 92.5% of all eligible small or retail, hospitality and leisure businesses in the district, or 1,758 businesses.

In total, £20.327m in Government grants have been paid to businesses through the Small Business Grants Fund, the Retail, Hospitality & Leisure Grants Fund, and the Discretionary Grants Fund.

All three schemes are set to close on Thursday August 20.

Cllr Karen May, Leader of Bromsgrove District Council, said: “These grants have been vital to our local economy – helping ensure the survival of district shops, cafes, hotels, restaurants and many other businesses.

“These are now the final stages of these grants. The vast majority of eligible businesses have claimed.

"If you think that you are eligible but have not yet been in touch with us about this, please do so as soon as possible.”

Successful applicants usually receive grant payments within five days, subject to checks.
